Overview
App Auto-Patch (AAP) is a native macOS app, written in Swift / SwiftUI for macOS 14+, that keeps third-party applications up to date by driving Installomator under a persistent root LaunchDaemon.
It is the successor to the App-Auto-Patch shell project and uses the same preference domain, so existing 3.5.0 configuration profiles deploy against 4.x with no edits.
How patching flows
Section titled “How patching flows”Patching always goes GUI → XPC service → root helper → Installomator, so privilege boundaries stay clean and the helper alone owns the receipts directory.
Scheduler modes
Section titled “Scheduler modes”- In-process (consumer default): runs while the menu-bar item is alive.
- Root LaunchDaemon (managed-Mac default): survives full app quit and user logout.
